We are seeking passionate and committed  Central Islip alumni to join the board of a CI Connects For Change. As a board member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the organization, leveraging your unique perspective and experiences as former students of the community. This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of community members in Central Islip, while also gaining valuable leadership and governance skills.

Responsibilities:
​
  1. Attend and actively participate in board meetings: Regularly attend board meetings to discuss and make decisions on the organization's strategic direction, policies, and initiatives. Contribute your insights, experiences, and ideas to help shape the organization's mission and vision.

  2. Support fundraising efforts: Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to secure resources for the nonprofit's programs and services. Actively participate in fundraising events, initiatives, and donor cultivation activities.

  3. Provide guidance and oversight: Offer guidance and oversight to the organization's staff and volunteers, leveraging your knowledge of the community and understanding of local needs. Help ensure that the nonprofit's activities align with its mission and serve the community effectively.

  4. Advocate for the organization: Serve as an ambassador for the nonprofit in the community, promoting its mission and programs to potential supporters, donors, and partners. Advocate for the organization's interests and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  5. Collaborate with fellow board members: Work collaboratively with other board members, drawing on your unique perspective as an alumni high school student. Engage in constructive dialogue, contribute to decision-making processes, and actively participate in board committees and task forces.

  6. Stay informed and engaged: Keep up-to-date with developments in the  community.
     

Qualifications:

  • Alumni status: Must be a former high school student of the community, 

  • Passion for community service: Demonstrated commitment to community service and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in your hometown.

  • Strong communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate ideas, perspectives, and recommendations to fellow board members, and external stakeholders.

  • Leadership potential: Exhibit leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire others, work collaboratively, and think strategically.

  • Knowledge of local community: Familiarity with the challenges, needs, and opportunities in the community.

  • Availability and commitment: Willingness to dedicate time and effort to board meetings, committee work, and supporting fundraising activities.
